2012 is off to a fast start and Altom Transport, Inc had a great year in 2011. With our Gulf Coast operations now reaching new heights in size and scope similar to our primary hub in Chicago, we are pleased with the growth and additional customers that have joined up with us. We are also very pleased with the many company drivers and owner operators that have joined us in the last 6 months. In addition we have welcomed many new faces in operations and administrative areas to help support our growth and continued success. In 2012 we will continue to invest in new equipment and personnel. We invested in many different types of trailers to meet the various customer demands and that trend is continuing currently. We have new trailers coming in weekly to support all areas of growth around all terminal operations. 2012 will also see a shift in our business location in the Gulf Coast as we look to move to a larger facility to meet our current needs and future growth.

We have contracted with Pegaus Trans Tech for the Transflo management system. This system allows for drivers to stop at any Pilot, Flying J, or Loves truck stop and easily scan and send all paperwork immediately to our offices for dissemination. This allows for immediate billing and subsequent faster processing of driver payments. In addition we have begun our rollout of the Peoplenet Software systems that electronically tender loads right to the driver in their tractor. With more customers requiring EDI transmission of data and real time accessability of information, this is an important addition to our business operations. This system also allows for accurate transmission of information to the drivers with hands on interaction that helps eliminate possible errors. The rollout of this system and additional training will be phased in starting in the first quarter of this year.

WELCOME!

A big TEXAS style welcome to our newest dispatcher in our La Porte operation Shannon Brzenski. Shannon started on January30th and is a great addition to our staff bringing several years of experience in the transportation business.

Altom Transport and 2011 have had an amazing year with continued growth, increasing our staffing and planning for a successful 2012.

In the 4th quarter of 2011 we have initiated a crude oil hauling operation that has begun in Texas. With an initial start up of 14 trucks and trailers this exciting new opportunity is just another in the long line of moves to create specialization for the needs of our customers. With several new drilling operations going on around the country for crude oil, we expect to see this important new business accelerate well into 2012 and beyond.

The Hammond Terminal and office welcome the start up of our new maintenance operations. In the 3rd quarter of 2011 we converted some of the large warehouse space into a new maintenance garage to support our ongoing growth. With a complete parts and maintenance operation we are able to get to the maintenance on both trucks and trailers on a timely basis.

New personnel have joined Altom. Geoff Zikas has joined Altom as the marketing manager out of Hammond to handle the ever growing business of our Renewable Fuels group, transporting Methanol, Ethanol, and Bio fuels. Also at Hammond we have increased our dispatch operations and have recently had Derek Bechard join the group.

In 2012 we will continue to invest in facilities, equipment, and new business opportunities so please stay in touch with us. And……Yes we are still hiring and positions are available for drivers and other support personnel. Contact us today.

In following the company mantra of being a “Specialized Carrier of Petroleum & Chemical Products”, Altom Transport, Inc. has opened up crude oil hauling operations in Texas. There is now an overwhelming run on many of the oil and gas shale plays that are now becoming a productive resource across North America.

Altom has now become one of the select players in the hauling of crude oil from some of shale formations that are actively being drilled and extracted. According to industry sources there are many shale formations that are now accessible thru changes in drilling and extraction technology. These shale formations run from western Texas up thru the Dakotas and Canada and well into the Eastern U.S. That is great news for both the petroleum industry as well as the general consumer that is growing tired of our dependence on foreign oil. Estimates on the actual number of available barrels of oil keeps changing but it is being touted as more than some of the finds of oil in the middle east.

With this new activity the transportation industry and other supporting interests are well positioned to grow and prosper. This recent activity should help with the unemployment situation. According to The American Petroleum Institute it is estimated that the increased oilfield activity could create 1.4 million new jobs. That is great news and as evidenced by Altom’s new start up, we are adding to the fleet and growing our base of business in Texas as a beginning. There are already 8 trucks engaged in crude oil operations with more on the way as this opportunity takes hold.

The new operations are vigorous and exciting and require new trucks and trailers with specialized equipment. There is some training required and the days are long but the job is still the same in terms of getting the product on the trailer safely to its destination. That can be an issue however, because there is very little infrastructure in some of these areas the driving and wear and tear on equipment will be very demanding. It is not for the faint of heart or for those unwilling to put in a hard days work.

If you are interested in more information on this particular opportunity please contact our safety department. We are continuing to hire qualified drivers and place new equipment into various areas each month. Stay tuned for more updates as we accelerate this business well into 2012 and beyond.
